Dictation 9 - Flood

As a result of heavy rains, the river had swollen dangerously. Some of the elderly residents of the houses in the low-lying areas were trapped in their homes by the surging flood water. The floods disrupted road traffic. Flood water sloshed inside the interiors of cars trapped by the waist-deep water as they attempted to plough through the roads. Rescue workers went from car to car, helping people carry their belongings out of danger to higher ground.
